What the experts say about the best way to start the day. 5 part series: Part 5

Arianna Huffington is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, one of the world’s most influential news sources. She is said to radiate positive energy - so we think we could all learn a thing or two from her!

Rather than a long list of to-dos’, Arianna has a list of things not to do. According to Ariana, she is a huge advocate of avoiding checking your phone during the first hour of your day.

Thankfully, there is some real science behind this. According to Google’s former Design Ethicist Tristan Harris, "When we wake up in the morning and turn our phone over to see a list of notifications it frames the experience of 'waking up in the morning' around a menu of 'all the things I've missed since yesterday”.

This is a surefire way to increase our stress levels and start the day on a bad foot.

Instead, Ariana suggests focusing on the present and tries to keep her mornings peaceful and serene. Much like the other individuals we’ve discussed in this 5-part series, Ariana also spends at least 20 to 30 minutes of her first waking hour meditating.
